that reveals the talent of the children.
SIXTH WEEK [03-01-2017
to 06-01-2017]
CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This is the last week of our
teaching practice. So we conducted an
awareness class among the VIII standard students on the topic “Child
Abuse”. Child abuse is physical, sexual
or psychological mistreatment or neglect of a child or children, specially by a
parent or other caregivers. Child abuse
can result in immediate adverse physical effects, but it is also strongly
associated with development problems and with many chronic physical and
psychological effects.
Ammu gave the introduction to the
topic. She told about the types of child
abuses. They are physical abuse, (intentional
use of physical force against the child that results in – or has a high
likelihood of resulting in a harm for the child’s health, survival, development
or dignity), sexual abuse (it is a form of child abuse in which an adult or older
adolescent abuses a child for sexual stimulation), psychological abuse (mental
injury), neglect ( it is a failure of a parent or other person with
responsibility for child).
After the introduction, I entered
and talked about the effects of child abuse – emotional, physical and
psychological effect. Then Jency
Innocent talked about the causes of child abuse. The WHO and International Society for
prevention of child abuse and neglect identify multiple factors at the level of
the individual, their relationships their local community, and their society at
large, that combine to influence the occurrence of child maltreatment.
Michael Das came and talked about
the disclosure and diagnosis of child abuse.
Nancy George explained the prevention of child abuse. A support-group structure is needed to
reinforce parenting skills and closely monitor the child’s well-being. Visiting home nurse or social-worker visits
are also required to observe and evaluate the progress of the child and his/her
caretaking situation.
Then Fousiya. S concluded the whole
class spoke about the core of each others talk.
Students become aware of the causes
and effects of different factors that affect the child abuse.
We utilized this week for
achievement test and data collection of our project. I conducted test paper from the unit “Flowers
and Showers”. Pupils attended the exam
very well. Most of the students got good
mark in the test. I felt very happy
while I was checking the paper.
The teaching practice was a very
nice experience for me. It gave us a
chance to interact with all types of students and teachers. It gave me a great knowledge about the
qualities of a good teacher.
